Parents have enjoyed their childhood days when they are allowed to watch cartoons on TV without any discretion because all the cartoons created back then were really child-friendly. Now, we see lots of cartoon shows that promote violence and without monitoring our kids’ TV watching, these supposed-to-be safe shows may inculcate in their minds that violence is okay.

Mickey Mouse was really famous back then but now, Mickey Mouse and his friends are slowly fading behind the limelight that is now focused on the recent cartoon characters such as the PowerPuff Girls, Naruto and Dexter of Dexter’s lab who does not treat his sister right and even would call her stupid! These cartoon characters and their shows have lots of kids tuned in but they should watch these shows with their parents to guide them and let them know that violence is not right and that they should not follow the bad examples from these cute and cool characters but should only learn the good lessons that are also inserted into each show.

There are different cartoon channels on cable and it’s the parents who should monitor these channels before they let their kids watch TV. Not because they’re cartoons then it’s safe for your kids to watch. Remember, there are sexual cartoon shows too and they are for adult viewers only so you should not be mistaken whenever you buy a cartoon movie ‘coz your jaws might drop when you realize you exposed your kids to explicit and violent videos.

The world is becoming more and more violent and there’s really no one else to blame but the parents. Proper parenting combined with constant monitoring will prevent your kids from becoming violent and imbecile. Let them watch TV shows that will teach them a thing or two but don’t allow them to watch more than 3 hours a day so they won’t live a sedentary lifestyle.  Kids should be active so it’s best if you’d just play with them rather than leaving them in front of the TV.
