| Kids need their parents’ protection all the time whether the parents are there or whether they are physically absent. In order to protect your child, you must instill good values to him/her so that even when you are gone, you are assured that your child can make the right decisions. Unfortunately, we are all busy and the time we spend with our kids is limited. Yes, we need to earn money but our kids don’t even understand what the value of money is but all they know is that they need their daddy and their mommy. It is our responsibility to provide them with their needs and that means we should also spend some quality time with them. Remember, when you neglect your children when they are young, they will suffer with the effects later on in their lives. What are the effects on kids who don’t get to spend time with their parents? They would search for affection somewhere else and they may end up having bad friends that would only influence them to do bad things. Would you forgive yourself if one day you’d find your child lifeless after a fraternity fight? Would you hate your daughter if one day she became pregnant and the father is a drug addict? It really boils down to your parenting skills. If you are horrible parents, you can not expect your kids to be all goody-two-shoes. Providing them with their worldly needs would even do more harm to them than good. They’d become materialistic and they will find happiness from money and will do anything just to satisfy their cravings. A lack of time with your kids combined with worldly spoiling is a lethal combination that will make your child confused and bitter with life. You must avoid making this very common parenting mistake in order for your child to lead a good and safe life. It is not too late to change the way you parent your children. Just make sure to keep God as the center of your relationship with them and everything will fall back into place and you could straighten their crooked ways once again. |
